Montana hunters have killed 110 wolves across the state, 50% percent of the quota. The season was set to end on Dec. 31, but Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks decided, on 12/8/20111, to extend the wolf hunting season until Feb. 15.

The FWP Commission also adopted a proposal for Montana Ranchers, who own livestock killed by wolves, be allowed to use hunters, to kill wolves.

Here’s what Bob Ream, FWP Commission chairman had to say:

“This is just the second time we have had a wolf hunt … and we are still learning as we go.

There will be more harvest in the next few months, and we’ll see how we are doing when we meet again in January. We may want to make some changes then.

It seems to be going well, and I think we have come a long way.”
