Perch fishing is really good right now on Canyon Ferry and just in time for the Perch tournament.

Sharon at the Silos informed us that this weekend Canyon Ferry will be hosting the Broadwater Lions Club Perch Derby on Sat. 28th and 29th.

Saturday is the singles contest for the largest perch and largest ling.

Sunday is the team event for the largest combined weight. For more information call The Silos at (406) 266-3100.

The ice on Canyon Ferry is 13-14 inches at the Hole in the Wall.  At South pond or Dikes the ice is 15 inches thick. The fishing is good for trout and perch. Sharon said perch fishing is the best it has been in five years.

The fish are biting on maggots and worms. The lucky lures that seem to work are Hali lures and Swedish Pimples.

Fishermen have caught a few walleye and some ling as well.
