The Montana Fishing Company Post of the Week

It is a bit cold out to fly fish here in Montana. I did, last Tuesday, on the Missouri river and it made me realize that I need to focus on the upcoming guide season. Fish were caught and time was well spent reflecting on 2011.

So Friday, I decided to dust off the trusty old fly vice while my wonderful daughter was asleep for her mid day nap. First fly that I have tied in 2012 is a mothers day caddice. The design of this fly is to give the illusion such that the bottom of the fly looks grey like the caddis fly, but the elk hair wing gives high visibility on top of the water to ensure the angler can see it on a cloudy day.

Scott Anderson and The Montana Fishing Company will have more to come in the fly tying department.
