Wolf Harvest Update – 1/10/2012

Montana hunters have killed 131 wolves across the state.  Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks have already extended the season through February 15, 2012.  In the West Fork of the Bitterroot, the wolves are have been especially difficult to hunt. Only 3 tags, of the 18 alloted, are filled.

The Ravalli Republic reports that the FWP Commission will offer a proposal, this month, to extend the season in WMU 250 until April 1, 2012. FWP Region 2 Director Mack Long had this to say.

We feel like we need to reach that quota. We think it’s very important to get predators in that area under control.

Our No. 1 priority was to have sportsmen accomplish the harvest. We’re very supportive of a season extension. We are hoping people will support that.

How do you feel about a second season extension in the West Fork?  Read the full article from Perry Backus HERE.
