Anglers are reminded that ice conditions can be extremely variable on the reservoirs. Ice thickness can range from thick enough to support a vehicle to open water. Extreme caution should be used when accessing the ice.

Canyon Ferry: Rainbow trout fishing continues to be good from Pond 4 to the north end of the Silos. Black, green or pink jigs or ice flies, tipped with worms or maggots, in 6 to 10 feet of water, continue to work best. A few perch are being caught around Hole-in-the-Wall in 40 feet of water and out from Confederate in 55 to 60 feet of water. Various jigs and spoons tipped with maggots have been getting the most consistent bite for perch. A few walleye and ling are being caught throughout the reservoir. Adam Strainer, FWP, Helena

Hauser: Rainbow fishing is good in open water areas below the Causeway Bridge and by York Bridge while using Power Bait or egg sacks. Rainbow action is slow in the Causeway through the ice. A few are being caught on spawn sacks or green ice jigs tipped with maggots or a worm. Ice at the Causeway is 10-12 inches thick while Black Sandy has 8-10 inches. Troy Humphrey, FWP, Helena

Holter: No report. The ice is still very unstable. Troy Humphrey, FWP, Helena

Helena Valley Regulating Reservoir: Kokanee fishing is good with chartreuse or pink ice jigs tipped with a maggot or corn. The kokanee are being caught in 25 to 35 feet of water. Ice is 12-14 inches thick. Troy Humphrey, FWP, Helena
