Please be advised that warm weather has brought on   high wind  conditions  which means caution should be used in  open waters  so please beware.   Call the contact person in the area you are planning on fishing for current daily information. The lake is open all the way to Nelson.   Bill says “Ice is totally  off .”   The lake is open all the way to Nelson. The water temperature is 38 degrees.    He says,  “Spring fishing season is here and will get better, make your reservations.”

Crooked Creek Fort Peck Reservoir Great Fishing Opportunities In The Eastern Montana Fishing Report;l 2/28/2012

Bob says, “   They’ re  catching fish at Crooked Creek ”.  “ Missouri is open” ,  he tells us,” Some northern, catfish  and  some walleye are being caught.  “I hear Petrolia is slow. “, Bob says.   Spring is the time to fish for the big fish he tells us.   There is not much action on Yellow water, just  a little trout bite he has heard.     My shop will now be closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Fort Peck Reservoir Dam/Bear Creek/Pines/

Gene Moore, of Lake Ridge says, “   Fantastic year by the spillway. The water below the powerhouse is fishing well.  They are catching walleye,  sauger and a few northern.   The lake is slow fishing.  Lake trout bite is still slow, the water temperature is  too cold.  At  Duckcreek they are catching everything.

Nelson, Forchette

Dan at West Side Sports tells us , ” Ice is gone.  Forshette and Nelson are slow because the water is too cold.. “

Canyon Ferry

“  People  are taking some walleye 17 to 18 inches and they seem to be mostly males.”, Sharon says.  “Ramps are open. Trout are about ready to spawn.    It has been decent fishing,  “ Sharon tells us.   The area   has had some fog condition this week which is unusual.

***Minnow bucket  Allen Camarillo  348-2440

Allen Camarillo says,”   On the Yellowstone,   fishermen   are   catching   catfish on minnows and small shrimp.”  The Yellowstone   is good fishing to Rosebud. Small mouth fishing is picking up on the warmer days.   Fishing is real   good.

***Lake Elmo  Billings

Lake Elmo  is picking up.    People   are  fishing from shore and  the dock and catching some catchable rainbows.  .   Lake Elmo was just stocked with   trout 10 days ago   Some people are boating just remember there are no gas motors allowed.  .

***Cooney

                Cooney is picking up a little, they are catching some walleyes.   They are catching some nice walleyes   from shore.  Rainbow trout fishing is slow.  All ramps are in.  “Kind of different, it is usually trout that you catch after the ice is off but right now they are catching the walleyes,” Nick said.

Lewistown East Fork Reservoir

Charlie says, “Crooked Creek   has some decent shore fishing, usually northern 15 to 20 feet  from bank.”   They are catching on the Missouri and Judith landing.  They are fishing on the bank at Stafford Ferry   and catching on dead minnows and crawlers.

They are catching ling by Rock Creek on the Missouri.  Some are 18 to 24 inches.
