In character – Shooting club dresses up with names and costumes

If you’ve ever wanted to strap on a six gun and dress up like your favorite Western icon, Cowboy Action Shooting is the sport for you. I spent part of a day recently with the group in Billings to get a sample of the events. Turns out, you can take it as seriously, or as casual as you like. The only requirement is that you shoot safely and have an unusual alias, like Backstrap Bill or Coyote Skinner. Clubs can also be found in the Gallatin Valley, Great Falls and Powell and Cody, Wyo.
