Rainbows are Still Being Iced at Hebgen Lake

Ice is holding steady and temperatures have cooled over the weekend bringing an end to the rain and creating some more snow accumulation on the lake. This has not helped with the slush and walking on top of the crust has turned into post-holing through 6 inches of snow over 6 inches of slush and deeper in some areas.

Fishing has not deteriorated however. Rainbows are being iced with good regularity in the morning then dying off towards mid-day. Browns are a little harder to come by but can be found cruising shoreline in 6-20 fow. Reports of some nice fish are coming in and I can report first-hand that there are some big fish getting more and more aggressive by the day. Make sure to bring some mealworms or night crawlers and give your presentation some action.

Access at the Dam will be limited this week as crews try to clean up snow and debris from avalanches along the southwest shore. So Be Careful on the ice and be aware of your surroundings.

Tight Lines and Good Luck.
