The Captain and Berny in Hawaii

March 4th MONTANA OUTDOOR WEEKLY WRAP-UP

Last week was pretty much a blur for me. I spent the last of my 10 day trip in Maui with Berny, my brother Dan and his wife Mary. It was one of the best trips that I have taken to Hawaii, mainly because it involved doing a lot of nothing.

Folks I know asked me if I went fishing and my response was: “I don’t work when I am on vacation.”

Next time you go on vacation try a lot of R&R on most days without a schedule to do anything else, I think you might enjoy it.

Speaking of fishing, Montana is about to start changing according to the reports we have received last week. The ice is receding on most lakes but there is still some ice fishing to be done, as is evident with Garrett Pronto’s recent Facebook post on perch fishing on Fort Peck.

River fishing is also picking up as Scott Anderson, from the Montana Fishing Company, posted this article during the past week.

I also received a call from Jim Johnson my fishing buddy from Lincoln and owner of Hi Country Snack Foods. Jim wants to head down to Orofino to fish steelhead this next week that is always a fun trip for me.

Reminder to get your new 2012 MT fishing license because the old one expired on the 29th of February. I want to congratulate Josh Lee of Missoula and Barry Boyce of Cut Bank. They were the latest winners on our Kendall Four Season Subaru statewide trivia contest we run every week on the Montana Outdoor Radio Show broadcast 6-8am live Saturday mornings. The answer to those questions and the questions we will ask again on the show this week come from two of the posts that appear each week on MontanaOutdoor.com. So read up and tune in Saturday morning and you could be our next winner on trivia.

I would also like to point out our statewide radio station network now has 21 radio stations with the addition of 101.5 fm in Missoula. Click here for a complete listing of where you can listen to the show. Of course, you can also listen online and if you miss the show click here to listen to last week’s show anytime.
