Your Outdoor Gear May Need A Spring Cleaning | Brett French Preview

Here’s reason 999 why you never want to go anywhere on an outdoor excursion with me: my gear is old and falling apart. That’s no big deal if it’s just a fly rod, but when I went to launch my raft for the first time last weekend, I found it was riddled with holes. Unfortunately, it was too early in the season for my local sporting goods store to have their patch kits in yet – they still have their ski gear out – so I tried to use a wader patch kit. Unfortunately, it didn’t work, maybe because I was too impatient to wait for the glue to dry since I wanted to float the same day. So here’s a hint: If you plan on an outing, check your gear out before the day you want to leave. I know you’re saying “Duh!” but sometimes it’s important to state the obvious, especially for procrastinators like me.
