Chancy at Snappy’s in Kalispell says fishing is picking up. Bitterroot Lake (in the picture above) is open and lots of folks headed up for the kokanee. Koocanusa is doing really well, lots of limits on the smaller kokannee (9 to 10 inches). Perch are still hitting down on East Bay and some small mouth bass for catch and release. The sloughs off the river’s are starting to open up. Whitefish Lake guys are getting a few lakers in 175 to 180 feet of water jigging. The Thomson chain of lakes are open, Lake Mary Ronan, McGreggor, and Swan. are also free of ice, but nothing to report. Chancy reminds us April 24th is the Cortland demo day from 3 to 6pm, 6:30 to 8pm outback in the courtyard with fly casting lessons, beginning fly casting lesson for women on the 28th for then on May 5th is the fishing fair.

In Central Montana Leonard says Holter doing well on trout around the BLM campgrounds. On Pishcan there’s been a few Northerns being caught. Bynum’s been slowing down they’re spawning right now. Lake Francis anglers have been cranking a few walleyes. Fresno down below some nice walleyes, but in the lake itself its all small ones, seems to take all day to catch your limit.
