Perch Fishing on Flathead Lake Stays Hot in the Montana Outdoor Weekly Wrap Up

Well, the Perch bite continues on Flathead Lake in the East Polson Bay. I went fishing, last Tuesday, with Arlyn Lemer. It was slow for us for about 4 hours and then when the sun came out, the wind died down and the water cleared up, the bite was on. Most of the females that I caught still had the eggs still in them. The bite should really pick up with temperatures warming into the high 70’s-low 80’s this Sunday through Monday and into next week. Enjoy the summer type temperatures while you can because by the end of the week a cold front is forecasted for much of Montana.

Turkey season opened Saturday and Monte Turner bagged a really nice gobbler. It weighed 24 pounds and scored over 63. Nice job Monte!  Click HERE to see the pictures!

The Twisted Tea “Hot Fishing Spot of the Week” is probably going to go to perch fishing on Flathead Lake. I also heard that they are catching some nice size walleyes below Holter Dam on the Missouri River. Lake Como southwest of Hamilton has also been fishing great from shore for trout using power bait.

FWP came out with a Press Release that was posted this week about the walleyes in Noxon Reservoir. Seems they were illegally introduced several times and they now are doing studies to see how many walleyes are in Noxon since they were first discovered by FWP in 1991.  Click HERE to read the full article.

Also congratulations to Archie Peterson and Bob Dube, both from Missoula. They are latest winners on the Kendall Four Seasons Subaru statewide trivia that we do twice every Saturday morning on the Montana Outdoor Radio Show.
