Rainbow Spawn is On in the Helena Area Outdoor Report

Hi folks, Angie here from BOB WARD & SONS, highlighting the good fishin’ in the HELENA area!

Get your Maribou Jigs out for the Rainbow at both the North & South end of CANYON FERRY! The Rainbow spawn is on, so rich fishin’ is still to be had from the shorelines at HOLTER & HAUSER with your Spawn Sacs or Worms…or take on some Walleye on HAUSER, below Holter Dam…anywhere else for Walleye is just slow right now, due to low water temps. SPRING MEADOW LAKE is also fishin’ well for Rainbow, & here’s a great place to take the kids for a Spring outing! No lingering ice reported on any Helena area waters!

The weather report says some accumulated snow, up to 5”, in Helena, starting tonight & over the weekend, so DRESS appropriately! That said, on the MISSOURI, the overcast days will just make the Midge Hatch even greater, so don’t miss out on some dry fly action! Midge Clusters, Soft Hackles or Parachute Adams in 16 are the go-tos this week, or get some Streamers on the line! Go with WHITE as your color right now, so a nice juicy size 2 Fathead or a Pearl Bling Minnow will work well! The JEFFERSON took on a LOT of color this past week, so the visibility is impaired there…we’ll have to wait a bit now to get this cleared up…but the catches at HARRISON LAKE have been mighty fine using any of your Crayfish Patterns, so this will be a better choice for the time being!

Better get your final skiing in, this Easter weekend is the LAST week at GREAT DIVIDE & SHOWDOWN for the year! GREAT DIVIDE is only open Saturday and Sunday, with SHOWDOWN being open Friday, Saturday and Sunday! Expect it to be hectic with everyone getting their final ski thrills for this winter season.

New Dry Flies, 2012 Rods & Reels, & a huge selection of Panther Martins or Rapallas are what Helena Bob Wards has to offer you this week! Pick up some CHOICE equipment & get on the water! See ya next week, and a Happy Easter weekend to all of you from Bob Ward & Sons!
