On Saturday, May 5, there will be a fly-casting competition at Riverfront Park in Billings that will raise money for the breast cancer survivor group Casting for Recovery. Fly casters can sign up to compete for accuracy or distance. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The top finishers in each division will receive a new rod. All of the proceeds from the entry fees for the contest will go to the Casting for Recovery group, which provides free fly-fishing retreats for breast cancer survivors. There are two retreats planned this summer in Montana. In addition to the competition, Annette McLean from R.L. Winston rods will be giving free casting clinics at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Also a reminder that next Saturday, May 12, is the sixth annual Yellowstone Challenge catfishing tournament based out of Huntley. It is the first tournament of the season on the 2012 Montana Cats Tournament Circuit.
