Angie here, your faithful correspondent from BOB WARD & SONS, to give you the best of fishing in the HELENA area!

Want some EPIC fishing this weekend & the coming week? The MISSOURI is a fisherman’s dream, even given the above average flow! The dry fly fishing below Craig is positively hot, plenty of Midges & BWOs to be seen (try your Parachutes here, or the Brooks Sprout Baetis or Griffiths Gnat in the 14-18 range)…or go down low with some flashy silver Lightning Bugs or a Glass Bead Pale Morning Dun in about a 16…trout are still hitting the WHITE colors in Streamers, or try an exotic big guy like the Skiddish Smolt in a 4…larger sizes are working it here!

It’s Walleyes all the way on most of the Helena Lakes….CANYON FERRY & HAUSER are truly brilliant, especially now that there’s been a bit of WARMING of the water. Get your Leeches ready, or go with the Fire Tiger Pattern on Crankbaits….Shore fishing for Rainbow at the North End of CANYON FERRY has been highly successful as well. Action at HOLTER is slower this week, but you have so many excellent choices up this way that will keep you on the water regardless…still going great with Kokanee Salmon up at the HELENA VALLEY REGULATING RESERVOIR…they’re out of their spawn and in a regular Feeding Frenzy around here! We like a Wedding Ring with a White Corn backer, but do be aware that the water is still quite low….levels will change soon, so take advantage of the situation as it sits now!

If it gets to be too WET for you outside, stop by the Helena Bob Wards and pick up some new fishing gear instead…plenty of specials going to get you right back out on the water! Don’t forget to ask about current water conditions and levels…we’ll tell you where WE’RE catching them…more next week, & best of luck to you, til then!
