Salmon Steve Hellegaard and I went fishing Lake Mary Ronan, Sunday through Tuesday. It was slow going for the kokanee salmon. We camped in the state campground and I made my reservations online. It is a very nice campground with electric and my space already had my name on it when I arrived.

Del, the campground manager, stopped by to say hello. He was a nice guy and took good care of the grounds. It was a great park with lots of trees and was very clean.

Anyway, the fishing started off pretty good Sunday night. We picked up 5 salmon jigging. Monday was very slow fishing. We spent 9 hours on the water, but only managed to hook 3 salmon. They all were caught trolling, but I prefer to jig. I saw Marc Peterson, from Missoula, who was trolling and was having success.

Tuesday, we started to catch fish jigging right away. We didn’t go out till 9:00 a.m. because it was raining and cold. Fishing slowed, as the day went on, as we only managed to boat 6 salmon. The Guru of “LMR” Jens Gran made an appearance on Tuesday and things were slow for him too! Gran did manage to pick up his limit (of course he did he is the GURU!) But it took him till 9:00 p.m. to do it. He ended the day catching most of his fish in 29-30 foot of water in front of Mountain Meadows Resort.
