Pike Are Still Biting On Smith Lake in the Northwest and North Central Montana Fishing Report

Chancy at Snappy’s in Kalispell says a few reports out of the Thompson chain of lakes especially in the morning. McGreggor Lake guys been pickin’ up on rainbows from shore using worms, marsh mellows, and power bait getting 2-3 lbs a piece and the occasional mack. The pike are still biting on Smith Lake with spinner bait, burkley gulp, and 4inch minnows; or you can bait fish with smelt or herring. McWenneger Slough just east of Snappy’s, crappies been biting pretty good out with some decent perch, bass, pike, and sunfish. Chancy says it’s a good place for the whole family. Noxon had a bass tournament the last weekend in April, with a few reports of small and large mouth bass. Didn’t hear much on Northerns, it’s been a bit muddy for folks. The Lower Stillwater’s getting a few reports on perch & pike. Bitterroot Lake’s been pretty slow for kokannee, might need to warm up to start seeing those again. Hubbard Reservoir has had reports on 12-14 inch rainbows while bank fishing with worms, marshmallows, and power bait. Quite a few reports from the Eastside at Duck Lake. They’ve been doing well with leach patterns and damsel flies. Thompson River is still a bit muddy, so it may take a few weeks before it straightens out.

Leonard says rain and wind all weekend. Pishcun there’s been a few Northerns and some perch. Holter’s doing well for trout and walleye, but it has slowed down a little bit on walleye. Bynum’s been doing well perch with some trout. Francis and Tiber have been taking all day to catch your limit. Fresno’s was doing well until the weather changed and it shut down.
