Tongue River Reservoir Fishing Great in the Eastern Montana Fishing Report: 5/29/2012

Please be advised that warm weather has been   making   precarious   high wind  conditions meaning caution should be used in the  waters .   Call the contact person in the area you are planning on fishing for current daily information. Bill says,”  The fishing just stopped with the weather changes this weekend.  We saw walleyes, northern, small mouth, and perch.  The water temp to the South is 57 degrees and 52 to 53 degrees to the North.”  Walleyes have been suspended 15 to 25 feet,  “Bill  explains.  The Rock Creek walleye tournament is this weekend.

Crooked Creek Fort Peck Reservoir

Bob says. “My shop is closed.  So if you need any supplies you will need to bring them with you.”

Deb says, “ Fishing has been pretty good.  They are catching northern, bass and perch.  It has been good enough that they are catching fish all over. Mostly with jigs and spoons  in the shallows.”   They are catching walleye   West at snow creek.  They are just starting to hit on jigs 15 to 20 feet deep.

Fort Peck Reservoir Dam/Bear Creek/Pines/

Gene Moore, of Lake Ridge says, “   They are catching nice walleye in the dredge cuts.  We have seen good numbers,   some 12 and  14 pounds.   Due to the weather they were  fishing off   shore.  They are catching lake trout at 30 to 40 feet depths.” Gene explains.   “ The lake is spotty right now.” he  says.

Nelson,  Forchette

Dan at West Side Sports tells us,.”  We really got rained out.  Nelson is picking up a bit  . Walleye fishing is pretty slow. Some still catching some northers.”    He said, “Forchette   is still muddy. ”   he says.

Musselshell’s water is cloudy so fishing is not as good.

Tongue River Reservoir

Despite the weather fishing was great.  They are catching walleye, pike, smallmouth, and crappie.  People are using leaches on walleyes. Crappies are being caught on minnows and smallmouth on cranks.

Canyon Ferry

“Fishing  has been cold and windy.  They are fishing for walleye   at night about 6pm to 11 pm but it has been slow. The pressure is going up.  Ponds   3 and 4 are picking up. “Sharon says.  She said  North hole in the wall is fishing well for trout.

“The Yellowstone is very high and muddy,” Allen says.  “Go hit a nice clear lake,”  Allen said .

***Lake Elmo  Billings

At the Aquatic Education kids fishing day some 10 pound trout were caught as well as pumpkin  fish .   The lake is full now.

Lewistown East Fork Reservoir

Dave  says, “Fishing was not good. We had snow and lots of rain.“  Spring Creek  looks like chocolate milk.  I heard no good reports fishing,”  he says.
