Plenty of Good Fishing in the Eastern Montana Fishing Report: 6/4/12

Please be advised that warm weather has been  making precarious high wind conditions meaning caution should be used in the  waters. Call the contact person in the area you are planning on fishing for current daily information. Also use extreme caution on the water at all times. ***Bill -Rock Creek Marina   1-406-485-2560

Bill says, ”The fishing was great for the 2012 Rock Creek Walleye  tournament  this past weekend.  We saw walleyes, northern, bass, and perch being caught.  The water temp to the South is 60 degrees now.  Someone caught a 44.1 northern this week.”  The largest walleye caught at the tournament was 14.72 pounds.  First place was  won by Chris Keller and Charlie Redfield of Wolfpoint with 58.5 pounds..  Second place winners were Whit and Carly Rush with 35.38 pounds. The fishermen are using jigs and worm harnesses.

Crooked Creek Fort Peck Reservoir

Bob says. “My shop is closed.  So if you need any supplies you will need to bring them with you.”

***Clint Thomas- Hell Creek Marina   1-406- 557-2345

Fishing has been pretty good.  They are catching northern and smallmouths.  Walleye are just starting to pick up.  Timber Creek seems to be where they are hitting.  The water temperature is pushing close to 60 degrees.  They are catching mostly with jigs and a few  crankbaits.

Fort Peck Reservoir Dam/Bear Creek/Pines/

Gene Moore, of Lake Ridge says, “The river is still good.  The lake trout are about 40 feet deep.  They are using crankbaits and flutter spoons.” Gene explains. “Northerns are good in the lake and the river.”  he  says.

***West Side Sports – Dan 1-406-654-1611 

Nelson, Forchette

Robert  at West Side Sports tells us,.”  Nelson is getting better . Walleye are feeding on rapellas and bottom bouncers.  The perch are hitting on only jigs  it seems .”  He said, “Forchette  is awesome!  They are catching northern on harnesses.  Some people are limiting out on walleye toward Timber Creek ”   he says.

 ***Deadmans and Martinsdale

Deadmans water is  mediocre for catching. They are catching rainbows from shore with powerbait.

Musselshell has Spring  run  off happening so fishing is not good.

Martinsdale is pretty good.  People are picking rainbows trolling.  Actually they are picking more browns on large spinners and rapellas  from a boat.  He has seen some 5 to 10 pounders.

Please be reminded that Martinsdale is a fee camping area.

***Matt Stephens-  Tongue River Marina   1-406-757-2225

Tongue River Reservoir

Fishing has been pretty good.  They are catching walleye  and crappie.   People are using  jigs and worms and a few leeches   on walleyes.   Crappies are being caught on slip bobbers and riggings with minnows.  The water temperature is 69 degrees.

Canyon Ferry

“ Fishing  has been excellent for trout  from Silos to White Earth.   Walleye fishing is medium.  It has moved to the West side North of  ponds   4.  Shore fishing for trout is doing well.”  Sharon says.  She said “ Carpfishing with bow and arrow has been good.”

 ***Minnow bucket  Allen Camarillo  348-2440

“The Yellowstone is even higher  and really dirty,” Allen says.  “  People are going to Tongue River, Yellowtail and Petrolia ,”  Allen said .

***Lake Elmo  Billings

People are catching sunfish, pumpkins and  10-12  pound trout.  The water temperature has been warm but some wind.

Lewistown East Fork Reservoir

Dave says,  “Fishing has been awesome, finally.  It is excellent for trout  from  Silos to White Earth.  “He reports that “Spring Creek  looks clear and fly fishing is good.   The mayflies are just starting   and they are trolling for trout.”  “The   East Fork Reservoir reports good fishing ,”  he says.   They are catching northern pike and perch on rapellas.
