The king salmon bite has started on the Clearwater River in Idaho. A record number of salmon are coming in this year. Many anglers from Montana fish the Clearwater, including Bill Brown from Bob Wards in Missoula. Brown went down to the Clearwater and fished last weekend and they caught 9 king salmon. “I think the fun is just starting down in Orofino,” Brown said. See him at Bob Wards for what you need to use to catch salmon, how to use it and where to go.  Click here to see pictures.

Speaking about salmon have you watch the video on montanaoutdoor.com that shows a king salmon being caught by a boat angler and while he was reeling it in a killer whale bit its tail off? If you haven’t it is worth your time to take a look.  Follow this LINK to watch the video.

The Twisted Tea “Hot Fishing Spot of the Week” ended up being the king salmon down in Idaho.

It was slow fishing for me this past week on Lake Mary Ronan. The weather might have contributed, but the kokanee weren’t biting my glo hook like they were the week before.  Read my report here.

Also, congratulations to Jack Meher, from Billings, and Ray Harrison, from Bozeman! They were the latest winners on the Kendall Four Seasons Subaru statewide trivia that we do twice every Saturday morning on the Montana Outdoor Radio Show. Have a great week!
