Hi, this is Angie from Bob Ward & Sons, & it’s perfect summer weather for all the waters in the HELENA area!

The MISSOURI RIVER is finally seeing Mayflies & Pale Morning Duns, with a few Caddis still present as well…give your Mayfly a little surface action & stand by, the effort will be worth it! We also like the Brooks Sprout Baetis or a Para Wulf in Purple, size 16 on either! Dip your San Juans or a Silver Lightning Bug for best Nymphing action, or strip a dark Pheasant Tail—change ‘em up and this will give you a full day on the Mighty Mo!

Sources are saying South End of CANYON FERRY for the best Walleye action…it’s slowed down everywhere else. Crankbaits are the best bets here, & a little patience, of course! Try the FireTiger Patterns…go “Shoreline” at HOLTER with your worms & garlic marshmallows, or try a little orange/yellow Powerbait! Out on HOLTER’S deeper waters, troll a flashy Rapalla or a weighted line rig with flies…or look to your Leech Patterns The weather will be WARM, but you may still get a bit of wind on the Lakes, so be prepared! Water level on the HELENA VALLEY REGULATING RESERVOIR is up & steady, & the Kokanee are calling your name, so get up there! Try baby shrimp, worms or wedding rings with corn…

Come in and keep your cool at the HELENA store, & while there, gear up for the 4th of July weekend fishing trip! We’ve got new dry flies, plenty of your favorite brand rods & reels, or get yourself a Tilley hat to keep this hot sun off your forehead while you’re on the water. You can bet we’ll be out there with you, this is REAL fishing weather, folks!

We’ll be back ‘atcha next week!
