Montana’s Fish, Wildlife & Parks Commission will meet June 14 in Helena at the Montana Wild Education Center, west of Helena near Spring Meadow Lake at 2668 Broadwater Ave. beginning at 8:30 a.m.

FWP’s commissioners will make final decisions on the FWP budget and legislative priorities.

The commissioners will also decide on the 2012 moose, sheep, goat, deer and elk license auction annual rules, an acquisition at Travelers’ Rest State Park, the 2012 mountain lion quotas, a special mountain lion license allocation adjustment, and a trumpeter swan release in the Madison Valley.

Proposals the commission will consider include the 2012 deer and antelope quotas outside biennial quota ranges, the 2012-2013 bison and furbearer quotas, the 2012-2013 furbearer seasons, and a haying lease to enhance habitat quality at Ninepipe Wildlife Management Area in Lake County.

FWP will also ask the commissioners to endorse moving ahead with planning for a fisheries conservation area in northwest Montana.

An informational discussion on 2012 elk license quotas is also planned. Recent field surveys of elk identified some changes to be made in the proposed elk quotas that are within the biennial quota ranges already adopted in February.

FWP ensures its meetings are fully accessible to those with a disability. Individuals with special needs may request arrangements by contacting FWP at: 406-444-3186.
