Searching for Salmon in the Montana Outdoor Weekly Wrap Up
By Matt Schauer

Well, I spent two and half days trying to catch a salmon on the Clearwater River in Idaho. Arlyn Lemer from Lolo and “Salmon” Steve Hellegaard from Missoula came along to also try and catch salmon. There was a lot of fishing, but very little catching. In fact, it took The Guide Shops, Mike Willhamson, to get Arlyn on a salmon Friday morning. Steve and I did not have a single BITE the whole trip. I am heading down again today with Tom Steinbrenner from Missoula. We will be fishing with Bill Scullion from Lolo. Wish us luck we will need it.

Last week, Kamp Cook found a video with killer whales biting a salmon’s tail off after a fisherman hooked it. This week take a look at the marlin that is being reeled in by an angler when a shark bites the marlin in half, all that is left is the head. Watch the video HERE.

The Twisted Tea “Hot Fishing Spot of the Week” Rock Creek for the salmon fly hatch east of Missoula. Fort Peck was a close second.

Also, congratulations to Cory Patterson from Butte and Tom Steinbrenner from Missoula! They were the latest winners on the Kendall Four Seasons Subaru statewide trivia that we do twice every Saturday morning on the Montana Outdoor Radio Show. Read listen and win with the Montana Outdoor Radio Show and montanaoutdoor.com.
