The Bureau of Land Management has reopened most recreation areas along the Madison River. All recreational areas have been closed since June 25 due to the  Bear Trap fire.

As of 10 a.m. yesterday, Trapper Springs Campground, Red Mountain Recreation Area, Warm Springs Recreation Area and the Bear Trap Canyon Wilderness Area are open.

Still closed are Bear Trap Road (including the Bear Trap Wilderness Trailhead and camping sites along the road), Canaday Boat Launch and dispersed camp sites west of the river along the county road.

If you plan to recreate in this area please do so with caution. Fireworks are also prohibited on state and federal lands.
