Some Great Dry Fly Fishing Opportunities in the Bozeman Area Fly Fishing Report
By Kjel

The Gallatin River: The Gallatin has continued to drop this past week and the clarity continues to improve. Stoneflies have been seen up the canyon around Big Sky. Salmonflies, Golden Stones, and Yellow Sallies should all be working. Caddis in the evening should put fish consistently on the end of your line. Expect the Gallatin to get better and better as the week goes on.

Lower Madison: The Lower Madison reopened today after the fire closed it down. The lower has started to warm up and seen an increase in tube floaters. If you want to fish the Lower Madison caddis, pmds, and caddis puppa should do the trick.

Upper Madison: The Upper Madison has been fishing great the past lately. Salmonflies are out on the upper part of the river. Golden Stones and Yellow Sallies are also out and about. Caddis will be the ticket in the evening and can make for some great fishing.

Yellowstone: Fishing on the Yellowstone is here! Salmon flies are out on the upper river bellow Gardiner. Golden Stones have been working as well as big attractors. Yellow Sallies in the softer water in the morning and PMD’s in the afternoon.  Caddis will work throughout the evening. The river continues to drop and should only improve.  If you fish the bellow Livingston you should have some great nymphing.
