This Northwest Montana Fishing Report is provided by Chancy, at Snappy’s Sport Senter in Kalispell.  Chancy reports that the main stem of the Flathead River and the forks have been doing well for those fly fishing, floating and wading. If fly fishing use tracker patterns, humpy’s, stone fly, wolf’s stimulators (in orange or yellow colors).

For spin fishing try some panther martins or salmon eggs under bobber are really good. Fisher River towards Libby doing well for brookies and rainbows and those fly fishing are using adams and purple haze. Lower Flathead below Kerr Dam floating from Buffalo to Sloan has been doing well on small mouth bass. Little slow in the lower section for bass, but pike fishing has done well.

Lake fishing on the middle Thompson doing well in the evenings. Echo Lake is doing well on kokanee, and picking up lake white fish. Flathead River sloughes are doing well for pike getting a bit weedy, so fish the deeper edges for the nice sized ones, and then go a bit deeper for bass, crappie, and perch. On Koocanusa, there are good reports up by Rexford for kokannee and salmon with jigging and trolling, but a little slow on rainbows.
