Yes, we know it is the hottest month of the year so what more perfect  than to think of something cold and refreshing like Montana ice fishing.  Fish Wildlife and Parks would like you to comment on ice fishing contests proposed for this upcoming winter season.  Get a nice glass of ice water after soaking in the rays and take a look at what this winter has to offer for Montana ice fishing derbies.

The Proposed Ice-fishing Derbies:

 The Ice Fishing Derby Rules:

  • Participants must comply with state fishing regulations, including daily and possession limits.
  • Most contests reqiure catch-and-release fishing and participants may not keep any fish.
  • Applications for contests may be approved, denied, or approved with conditions.
  • Conditions placed on contests are often aimed at minimizing fish mortality, regulating harvest, avoiding user conflucts, or requiring additional access site maintenance.
