Fall is here and the rivers are showing the signs. With the days getting shorter and the air and water temperatures getting lower the fish are getting more active. Missoula is not the place to be this week. Smoke has been hazordous for everyone. Montana Fishing Company has been redirecting our guided fly fishing trips to other areas of Montana. Fly fishing in the Missoula area is still great, but I want the clients to have a safe enjoyable fly fishing experience.
The lower Clark Fork River east of Missoula along I-90 all the way to Paradise, Montana is fishing well. The fish are rising to Hecuba’s and Trico’s. You can still put caddis and hoppers on the water and they will take a few fish. Try nymphing when the rise slows down. I would suggest a long float for the day and push through some of the more unproductive water. It is a bit of a drive, but you can always stay the night at Quinn’s Hot Springs. If you find yourself down that way give us a call.
Montana Fishing Company is now accepting reservations for the 2013 season.
Book early on our website www.montanafishingcompany.com so you can get the best dates for your fly fishing dreams.
