Montana Sportsman’s hunting licenses include a combination of deer, elk and conservation licenses that authorize fishing and hunting of upland birds, excluding turkey.  The Montana resident Sportsman’s combo with bear for 2012 costs $85 and $70 without bear .  This package deal is a popular choice for hunters.

Montana military members who have been deployed outside of the state for 2 months since September 11, 2001, and have been discharged or released from active duty, are eligible for a major discounted Sportsman’s package, without bear, for just two dollars.  The FWP regulations read:  “Montana military members discharged or released from active duty that participated in a contingency operation outside the state for 2 months since September 11, 2001 may purchase this license at FWP offices for $2. To take advantage of these licenses you must obtain the license in the year that you returned from military service or in the following year.”

If you, or somebody you know, fit the criteria to take advantage of this discounted fee, go to your nearest FWP office and bring your DD214 for verification.  For more information, go to http://fwp.mt.gov/hunting/licenses/availableLicenses.html.
