Tomorrow morning many Montana hunters will be up before sunrise making their way to secret spots in hopes of filling elk and deer tags.
The 2012 rifle hunting season run through November 25 and FWP estimates about 100,000 hunter will be out for opening weekend.
Ron Aasheim, of Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks had this to say:
For so many Montanans this is one of the most important weekends of the year. It’s a way of life for many and also a celebration of family traditions, friendships, sharing Montana stories and becoming reacquainted with the wild, natural grandeur of our state.”
FWP estimates residents and non-residents hunters will spend a total of more than $200 million dollars throughout the 2012 hunting season. About 2 out of every 10 hunters will harvest an elk and 6 out of every 10 hunters will harvest a deer.
