Read the FWP Helena area reservoirs fishing report below to see where rainbows are still biting:

*NOTE – This is the final fishing report for the open water fishing season on Helena Area Reservoirs.  The winter fishing report will resume around the New Year.  Thanks.

Canyon Ferry:  Rainbow fishing throughout the reservoir has been good for the few anglers still on the water.  Boat anglers are doing well mid reservoir trolling cowbells or cranks in 5-25 feet of water.  Shore anglers are seeing some action on worms and marshmallows near the Silos, Confederate, White Earth and dam area.  Walleye fishing remains inconsistent, with some angler doing well using cranks or bottom bouncers around Duck Creek and Hole in the Wall. A few perch continue to be reported around White Earth and Hole in the Wall.  FWP, Helena

Hauser:  Rainbow fishing continues to be very good from both shore and boat.  Most action for shore anglers has been at York Bridge, Riverside and the Causeway while using marshmallows or worms.  Boaters are doing well trolling cowbells or crankbaits around Black Sandy and Devil’s Elbow.  Walleye and perch fishing are slow.  FWP, Helena

Holter:  Rainbow fishing is very good while trolling cowbells or spoons in the lower reservoir from Split Rock to Holter Dam.  Shore fishing for rainbows has been good as well around Departure Point and Gates of the Mountains while using worms.  Walleye and Perch fishing are slow.  FWP, Helena

Helena Valley Regulating Reservoir:  Snagging season for kokanee salmon runs through October 31.
