Keep on Fishing: Helena Area Outdoor Report

Hi, it’s Angie from Bob Ward & Sons, & we’re in November now…no reason to stop fishing even if the snow starts flying up here in HELENA!

The MISSOURI is bound for some milder weather this week, anyway, with temps in the 50’s & we’re promised plenty of cloud cover…that’ll make your STREAMER bite fairly exciting, so get your whites or blacks out with regard to color and use a Micro Zonker, a Jawbreaker or a Flash Fry for best results! Deaddrift one of these guys under an indicator…we’re hearing that’s a successful tactic! In the afternoons, try Midges, BWOs or something like a ParaWulff in Purple for dries! Nymphing hasn’t been as hot lately, but that’s ok, it’ll come back. The crowds have thinned out, & the river’s fishing from the Dam down, so it’s a good time to head over!

Good fishing for Walleye is still being reported on CANYON FERRY, & worms are still their treat of choice…you will be set at about 25-30 fft with a bottom bouncer for these guys! For rainbows, especially near the Dam, a mix of leech patterns & crayfish are working well! There will be some good stack-ups around all the Dams so don’t miss out! You can feel free to use your best Big Gruesomes like Wooly Buggers, or baitfish imitations, or JJ Specials as well…you ought to have plenty of cloudy weather on the Lakes to entice the fish with the Streamer selection in your box!

Are you thinking SNOW?? Great Divide Ski Resort is in the process of making some of the white stuff now, & with what Nature’s adding, ski season ain’t far off! It’s Ski-Ba-Dee-Ba-Doo Sale this weekend at Helena Bob Wards, so if you have a minute off the water, come in & see what we’ve got for sliding down mountains in your spare time! You can catch yourself a new Ice Rod while you’re in the store, or check out the other ice fishing items—the snow’s gonna come sometime soon whether we’re ready or not, & at Bob Wards, we’re ALWAYS ready for whatever the MT weather throws us! Back next week, neighbors!
