Do you remember ski ballet?

I was recently introduced to ski ballet through the movie ‘Hot Dog’. I am now inspired to bring it back! Montana ski season is upon us, Big Sky Ski Resort is opening next week and I could not be more excited! I mean, if GAP is bringing back the turtle neck – why can’t ski ballet be along side it?

How i intend to train for my ski ballet is to first start on the ice skating rink, bring it to the slopes on my snow blades then put on the skis and show everyone what they are missing out on!

What is Ski Ballet?

A form of freestyle skiing that is no longer apart of competitive freestyle skiing. It was going strong in the 1960s and lasted until the year 2000. It was performed on a smooth slope with ballet moves on skis doing choreographed flips, turns, rolls, leg crossings and spins. In the 70s a 90 second music accompaniment was included in the routine.

The sport has unfortunately declined in popularity ever since and even forgotten and unknown with today’s youth.
