What do your winter activities consist of after Montana’s general rifle season ends?

Whether you’re into ice fishing, scouting for next year’s hunting locations or checking traps, snowmobiling to your destination gets you there more quickly than if you were walking.

Snowmobiling, recreationally, is a past-time that evolved from its original purpose of “transporting people and their possessions cross-country during the winter season”, according to Wikipedia.  Nowadays, you can find snowmobile drag races and hill climbs not only in the winter, but also in the summer time on grass and asphalt.

Here are a few pictures I took from my recent snowmobiling excursion in the Bitterroot valley.  It had been 17 years since I’d ridden a snowmobile, and let me tell ya, even though the snowmobiles we were riding are older, they are still just as fun as any.   Of course, I am now pricing a sled for myself. lol.
