I was recently introduced to an article by my co-worker, Nina, that was published in New Zealand’s Stuff Magazine titled “Fishing Spots Sold on Trade Me After Break Up”, and it got me thinking.  When do you REALLY know that you can trust your significant other with your most sacred fishing and hunting locations?

The article states that Angela Potter and her boyfriend, who is an avid fisherman, broke up when he decided to pack up and leave for Australia with very little notice.  Not only did he leave so suddenly, but he used her suitcase, which had sentimental value to her, to tote his belongings.

In response to this unforgiveable action, Angela decided to auction off her ex-boyfriend’s secret fishing location coordinates online, and received over 90,000 hits on her post.  She ended up scoring $3,000 on the sale!

Angela stated, “When he refused to return my suitcase that’s when I sold his co-ordinates,” she said. “I didn’t list them to be vindictive. I listed them as a bit of a laugh.”

She has since moved on and is now dating another fisherman, but she will not reveal the ex’s fishing coordinates, stating “I wouldn’t do that. I’m fairly honorable in that respect.”

I can imagine Miss Potter’s new boyfriend will be very careful when revealing his secret spots to her!
