Goldfish are little orange fish that dart around  5 gallon fish tanks and swim up to the glass when you tap on it….right?

Well, according to Steve Garagiola of WDIV, that is what Michigan resident, Mike Martin, an avid fisherman, probably thought until his Lake St. Clair fishing trip that produced a three-pound, 15-inch long goldfish.

“I was doing what I always do, trying to catch perch”, Mike said.  “I thought I had a big perch on–definitely not a perch”.

Many people may not realize that when goldfish are given room to grow, they actually do grow.  Mike said that goldfish are “notoriously hard to catch”, so he wasn’t even sure what to do with it when he caught it, as for over the last 20 years he has been fishing, he has never caught one until now.
