Hi, Angie here from Bob Ward & Sons, & we got some goooood stuff going on, on your favorite HELENA waters:

If you’re in the market for some solid Kokanee fishing, the HELENA HOLDING RESERVOIR has been fantastic!  With the weather looking to stay consistent thruout the weekend, the fishing will be so as well…most folks are using jigs tipped with white corn or maggots, & any depth between 20-40 ft has been hugely productive.  CANYON FERRY on the South End has been great for trout.  8-12 ft of water with your jigs 4-6 ft below the ice will do the job well.  We’d also recommend Black Wooly Buggers.  Ice has been thick & very solid, but always pay attention to the ice conditions for your own safety!  Walleye fishing has been a bit slower, but if you try 1/2 an hr to an hr before sunrise, or the same time frame after sunset, these windows seem to be working best.  Good sized trout are reported on the CAUSEWAY, & the perch seem more lively here…smaller jigs are the ticket up here!  On the MISSOURI RIVER, it’s still a fine time to Nymph…Pink Soft Hackles in the seams are keeping the trout interested, & we recommend throwing a split shot 6 ft in front of your line.  Black has been the Streamer color of choice, so don’t be afraid to strip a Fathead or your favorite Home Invader & see what turns up!

GREAT DIVIDE is the family ski place of choice this weekend, with a 30″ base & nice temps in the low 40’s forecast for the weekend.  SHOWDOWN has a solid 35-45″ base & is always a beautiful place to ski.  DISCOVERY got more snow this week and is looking at a 36-52″ base, with a LOT of terrain that can challenge any skier!  Get out in the snow, friends!

Come visit us at Helena Bob Wards to pick up your favorite winter gear….we have it all for you, with sweet deals you won’t want to miss.  Meantime, hit the water, ice or snow for some fun in the weekend sun, & we’ll be right there beside you!  Talk to you next week.
