With a high pressure system moving our way, the conditions are set for some nice blue skies and balmy weather. What a perfect setup to get out and enjoy early Montana spring skiing! And fortunately there are plenty of events scheduled to amp up the entertainment on the hills. Here are just a few events worth seeing weather you ride sticks, a board, or just like to spectate.

Red Lodge Mountain Resort is hosting the US Airbag Demo Tour! If you have been pondering the saying of either go big or go home, now is your chance to go big, then go home and brag about it. US Airbag is setting up a huge airbag strategically placed to cushion the landing beneath jumps. This allows for skiers to safely practice those gnarly 360’s they have been dreaming about all season, without the chiropractic bill to follow. Three jumps will set you back $10, and prices go up from there…still cheaper than a doctor bill. More information can be found at www.redlodgemountain.com

If tricks on the rail are your style check out the Chamberlin Rail Jam in Downtown Missoula’s Caras Park March 8 & 9 from 5pm-10pm. Crews were setting up ramps and rails this evening and it looks to be an extremely entertaining wind down to the season. Preliminary competition on the 1st night, finals the 2nd night. Free concerts to follow both nights with headliners Gramatik, Minnesota, Protohype, and DCarls.

Montana Snowbowl is hosting a Vertical Challenge Sunday March 10, 2013. Competitors try to see who can rack up the most vertical feet in one day. Prize categories for skiing/ riding the widest variety of trails, 20k, 30k, 40k and 50k awards. More information can be found at www.montanasnowbowl.com

Are the good ole days before these fancy tricks and big air calling your name? Head on down the Bitterroot to Lost Trail to re-live the days of hot pink ski jackets, neon green bibs, and Sony Walkmans on 80’s day. They will knock  $3 off your lift ticket for dusting off the old duds and donning them for the day Sunday March 10, 2013. They currently have 93” at the top and 86” at the bottom. If you want first or last chair, hours are from 9:30am to 4:30pm Thursday through Sunday. www.losttrail.com
