pfThere we were, newbies to the fundraiser banquet scene, and when Jason Maxwell and I attended the Five Valleys Chapter Pheasants Forever banquet at the Hilton in Missoula this past Saturday, we weren’t sure what to expect.  It ended up being one of the best evenings we had so far this year.

Pheasants Forever is a non-profit organization that is “dedicated to the conservation of pheasants and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public awareness, education and land management policies and programs.”  Their fundraiser banquet this past weekend included everything from gun raffles and silent auction items for every budget to Missoula’s Mayor John Engen auctioneering the live auction items, not to mention the fantastic dinner.  Al from 94.9 KYSS FM was also a guest host.  There was so much more than that, too!

Jason and I ended up winning a .38 derringer in one of the gun raffles, which was awesome, but that was after we accidentally crashed the Price Construction table.  The table displayed a “Reserved” sign that both of us somehow managed to overlook, but the Price family at the table was extremely friendly, and they happened to have some empty seats available that they offered to us.

Overall, the banquet was a really good time, and we met a lot of people who all came together for this excellent cause.  One thing we learned about ourselves this past weekend is that you never know how much money you actually have until you see something you want at a silent auction.  There were some pretty awesome items there.

If you are interested in a cause, I suggest going to their fundraising banquets, if and when they have them.  I know that we are looking forward to the next one!
