Hear the latest fishing reports for the Kalispell, Great Falls and Dillon areas.

Chancy from Snappy’s
Chancy at Snappy’s says nice and warm all week. No ice left, if there is any Chancy doesn’t recommend it. Echo Lake perch and bass starting to hit a bit.  Lake Blaine is completely open, but its tough getting a boat in there because it down pretty low right now.  McWinneger Slough been catching a lot of perch running about 8-10 and crappie running about 7-10 also, with a few pike.  Smith lake guys putting boats in and catching a few pikes, and a rumor of a 30lb pike being caught.  Perch bite is going on in the East Bay of Flathead Lake.  Salmon fishing on the Kookanusa  seems to be good, with rumors on rainbow and Bull fishing.  Whitefish lake North end catching some nice trout and lake fish, and Swan Lake is good for those chasing pike.  Flathead River just East of Snappy’s is high and murky so its shut off.  The lower Flathead above Thompson  Falls had some nice pics from guys headin’ down there on Pike.

Leonard from Roberts Bait and Tackle
Leonard from Robert’s Bait and Tackle says the only safe place to fish is Holter. The ice is off all the way, the river’s all wide open. Piscan, Bynum, Francis, Tiber, and Fresno you can fish the shoreline but no boats yet.  Catching wise, heard quite a few trout at Holter, and walleye down below the dam at Holter. Riverwise all the walleye is in a free spawn. If you have any questions or need rod & reel repair call Leonard 406-454-1877.

Shelby from Rocky Mountain Supply in Dillon
Shelby from Rocky Mountain Supply in Dillon says there is still a lot of ice on the North Side Clark Canyon Reservoir and its still real popular. The ice is broken up for most off the shoreline of the lake.  The South East side of the lake is producing the catch ratio for trout with worms and marsh mellows.  Some folks are launching small boats on that South Side and staying on that South side of the lake. Gofer hunting is popular right now also. If you’re in the Dillon area, stop into Rocky Mountain Supply for more information or call 406-683-2308.
