Northwest/Southwest/Central Montana Fishing Report 4/20/13

Hear the latest fishing report for the Kalispell, Dillon and Great Falls areas.

Chancy from Snappy’s
Chancy at Snappy’s says its been pretty cold, but the fish are still biting pretty decent. Been getting good reports from Hubbard Reservoir producing rainbows and occasional kokannee. Most guys are bait fishing using worms, mellows, and power bait. Little McGregor doing pretty good catching rainbows for those bait fishing. McGregor Lake reports few really good macks, trolling and bait fishing the shoreline for some nice rainbows. Kookanusa still getting good reports for kokannee, nice rainbows, and decent bulls. Echo Lake’s had some good reports for bass in the deeper water. The Flat River Sloughs doing good on the pike and a few decent bass. Fishing McWinneger Slough just past Snappy’s been producing pike, croppy, occasional bass, and some decent perch. Been a few guys asking about East Bay on Flathead, still getting some perch down their. The East side, Browning, had some good reports. The West end of Duck was open and folks are dry Fishing. Dog Gone is completely open fishing good, and Lake Francis is open for walleye.

Leonard from Roberts Bait and Tackle
Leonard from Robert’s Bait and Tackle says its been pretty slow on the walleye while they are in free spawn. They are getting some trout out on Holter. Shelby from Rocky Mountain Supply in Dillon
Shelby from Rocky Mountain Supply in Dillon says Clark Canyon Reservoir is the place to be. A few people from the store went up this past week and just hammered the fish with worms and Colorado Spinners. The Beaverhead Archery Club is having their shoot at the store Sunday. Kids Day on Bighole River is a great event for the kids to learn and experience a great river fishing experience. Additionally, Shelby says the Bighole River is really fishing great. Four different guides have reported squallas with a purple tint are doing amazing. The wooly buggers in the Beaverhead have been producing.
