Playing Hookey: Destination, Holter Lake

The Captain decided to take advantage of this streak of nice weather and play hookey today.  He is headed to Holter Lake to catch some fish!  At least, that’s the plan.   He will be reporting back upon his return to Missoula tomorrow evening, and, hopefully, his pictures will have fish in them!

If you aren’t familiar with the whereabouts of Holter Lake, it is located approximately 45 miles northeast of Helena and the lake, itself, was formed by the Holter Dam.  The lake is somewhere around 25 miles long and has a maximum depth of 121 feet.  The average depth is around 50 feet, though.

Holter Lake boasts an abundance of different species of fish including: Rainbow trout, kokanee salmon, walleye and yellow perch.  I wonder how many species of fish the Captain will bring back tomorrow.  Be sure to check back at montanaoutdoor.com for his fishing report!
