The Captain’s Report from Holter Reservoir

Captain, Dick Chrest and Don Beardsley fished Holter Reservoir, Tuesday.  It was a nice bluebird day with a little wind up to 11 miles per hour to deal with, for boat control, but it was warm and nice.

fishFishing was a little slower than we expected, but we did manage to boat 12 trout and lost about as many.  We fished by the cabins on Oxbow Bend most of the day.

Trout were mainly shallow, with a green needle fish and a brookie colored rapala on the two downriggers, getting most of the action at 11 feet deep. Ice is completely off Holter, and the lower BLM campground has the docks in the water.  Log Gulch campground has the boat slips in the water, but the dock on the boat ramp still needs to be put in as of Tuesday.
