Helena

The Missouri is fishing very well. For dry flies, try BWOs, black ants or caddis. Beatis and midges are also working well. A variety is important as they are being choosy day by day.

At Canyon Ferry, no huge bite to report specifically. For trout, try trolling cowbell rigs with streamers or spoons. Leeches have arrived, so trolling the drop-offs or ridges morning to mid-day and hitting the flats in the evening for walleye is your best bet. Focus on perch or rainbow rapalas or troll crawling harnesses with leaches behind a bottom bouncer.

Lake Helena Walleyes are slowing down with success varying by the day. Trolling shallow rapalas behind plainer boards is still the preferred method but some success has been reported from worm rigs and bottom bouncers.

Boulder River fish are hitting well on Caddis with tan and olive colors working best. Nymphs are also producing very well with purple the hot color.

Have a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day Weekend!
