Fishing is a popular way to spend a day on a river and a lake in Montana. When you catch fish it makes it even more enjoyable.

If you fish like me, where I can only catch fish when the fish are biting, then I have good news for you. If you want to learn how  to catch fish when they just don’t seem to be biting, then plan on being at Bretz Rv and Marine in Missoula this Saturday. We have put together a great line up of fishing experts that will be sharing their tips and tricks on how to catch walleye, lake trout, rainbow trout, northern pike, smallmouth bass, perch, and kokanee silver salmon. Learn how to fish area lakes when the fish are biting the best. Lakes like Flathead, Noxon , Canyon Ferry, Holter, Hauser, and Lake Mary Ronan just to name a few. This year’s fishing seminars are free and include an All Star Cast.

First up at 10:30am this Saturday morning, will be Trevor and Kit Johnson from Kits Tackle in Helena. The Johnsons have put on some of the best fishing seminars in the state. This father and son team won the Canyon Ferry Walleye Festival last year by creating and using their own creation called the glass minnow jig. “We are excited to see the folks this Saturday in Missoula at Bretz and share with them some of the tips and tricks that we have learn through the years”, said Trevor. Their Montana tackle company is one of the fastest growing in the state, as they share with folks on how to “Jig the Dream”. The Johnsons will be focusing on mutli- species including walleye and trout. “Since we live over in Helena we have a fished Canyon Ferry, Hauser and Holter quite a bit, so if you want to know how to catch big trout and walleye then we look forward to seeing you Saturday”, Trevor added.

Next, at 1pm, is the Macman, Dick Zimmer, from Zimmer Tackle in Pablo. “If you want to know how to jig up lake trout I will be covering a few different methods that have worked well for me”, said Zimmer. The Macman has been one of the most consistent successful fishermen on Flathead Lake. He will also touch on the perch bite in East Polson Bay and share with you his prediction on this year’s upcoming whitefish bite. I have fished with Zimmer quite few times over the years so I know you will be in for a treat Saturday as he shares his fishing techniques starting at 1pm.

Then at 2:30, back by popular demand, is Bob Hickey from Kalispell. Hickey has won numerous walleye circuit awards and tournaments. “It is always fun coming to Missoula to talk walleye fishing, this year I will be giving my tips and tactics to patterns of seasonal walleye movement,” said Hickey. He will also have information on how to catch walleyes on Noxon Reservoir.

I will also be there to answer any questions about fishing. I hope you can make it to our free fishing seminars at Bretz RV and Marine this Saturday starting at 10:30, located on 4800 Grant Creek Road in Missoula.
