MORS Weekly Wrap Up

Summer is nearly here and I have already noticed more traffic on Reserve street in Missoula, a sure sign that tourist season is just around the corner. Everyone is eager to get out of town, get on the river, or out in the woods. Even though spring run off has turned all the rivers to chocolate milk, there were still some HUGE catches this week. A 29.7 lb. northern pike was caught on the lower Flathead, if you didn’t see the picture you should definitely check it out here.

We also reported an Idaho man catching a phenomenal Rainbow, likely a record…if only it were properly documented.Take a look by clicking here. Ticks and mosquitoes are out and we stumbled upon this natural mosquito repellant. Find out how you can repel the annoying buggers by clicking here.

Speaking of fishing, be sure to watch where you put that lure, we saw some pretty bad snags. See how a poorly placed hook can end up in the wrong spot here.

And finally, a biologist shared some of his fun grizzly video footage this week when he posted a clip of a grizzly that sniffed out his GoPro Camera and gave us a shot of the inside of his mouth. The footage is worth seeing, check it out here.

The famous Miles City bucking horse sale took place this weekend, for more information on this long standing Montana tradition, click here. Today is the close of Spring Mack Days, and this year’s anglers have brought in 26,607 lake trout despite the weather. They will be awarded with over $150,000 at todays close of the tournament at Blue Bay on Flathead Lake.

It is always fun meeting new Montana Outdoor Radio Show listeners. This weekend I attended a wedding at Kleffner Ranch in Helena and met a farmer who listens to our show from his tractor out on the field.I love being a part of the MORS family and finding out how and where our listeners enjoy the show! We appreciate all of you listening, and of course we want to show you some love by giving away as many prizes as possible. Ken Vrunelle of Wolf Point, and Ben Campbell of Kalispell were this weeks trivia winners!  We also gave a Montana Club gift card to Joyce Vetter from Hilger, and Don Stricker of Billings & Sean Reynolds of Kalispell were our Pelican Flashlight/Cooler Q drawing winner. Oh yeah, and Big Daddy Riley from Hamilton was the winner of a Pelican 35Q cooler!
