Twelve year-old Sam Severson, of Missoula, got his first turkey during his first turkey hunting season this year!

Sam bagged his big tom up Lolo Creek with a Winchester 12-gauge shotgun that he won at a NWTF Missoula Longspurs turkey banquet.  His turkey sports an 11.5″ beard, 1″ spurs and weighs 19.5 pounds, according to Sam and his Dad’s measurements.  They will get official numbers down the road.

Last fall was Sam’s first hunting season, and he got an antelope buck, a whitetail buck, a muley doe and a cow elk.  With this year being his first turkey hunting season, and being successful, you can bet Sam’s hunting seasons to come will just keep getting better!  Sam’s Dad, Tom Severson, said “he is REALLY into hunting, and I’m his proud Dad/guide.”

Congratulations to you, Sam, from the Montana Outdoor Radio Show!  We look forward to more hunting success pictures from you in the future!
