Private game cams are set up all around Montana, and many pictures get sent to FWP manager Jamie Jonkel every day. The most recent was this photo of a mountain lion fishing in a creek outside Seeley Lake. The Missoulian reported on this story, here is a quote from their article;
Kerry Foresman, retired University of Montana biologist and author of “Mammals of Montana,” noted that “when preferred prey are not available, the mountain lion will opportunistically take whatever is.
According to FWP, this is the first recorded incident in Montana.
