Linda -Rock Creek Marina 1-406-485-2560
“Bill said, “Fishing has been awesome. Catching lots of eatters, walleye 16 to 22 inches. Northern pike are still biting. They are using jigging mainly. Biting in 10 to 20 feet using worms as well. Some using local Kips Tackle fire taggers glass minnows series in 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz, and 3/8 oz.

There are still places in the Pikemasters tournament on the 22nd and 23rd”

Tongue River Reservoir- Bob Peterson
Tongue River Marina 1-406-757-2225 Colton
“Crappies are being caught in the shallows. They are finally moving to the shallows. Walleyes are being caught leeches and night crawlers using jigs. Cranks are also starting to work. Darker colors are really working. The water is full but it needs to warm up, it is only 65 degrees, ”Greg says. Some small mouth eaters are also being caught.

Clint Thomas- Hell Creek Marina 1-406- 557-2345
Hell Creek-Fort Peck Reservoir
“Bass fishing has been excellent. The guy who won the tournament had 18 pounds both days. He said you will find them anywhere there are weeds.

It has been real good towards Crooked Creek Bay and Hill Couley. Walleyes are being caught east of us. Northern pike are biting.

Walleye fishermen are finding when the sun is up it is perfect for walleye. They are good eatters 5 to 7 pounders. Snow Creek is the best for walleye right now.

Saw some real nice bass from there. Rainbow trout has not much action,“Brett said.
Gene Moore Lake Ridge Motel 1-406-526-3597
Gene Moore, of Lake Ridge says,” Fishing has been really good. Everything is being caught northern pike, walleye, smallmouth and lake trout. Go toward Duck Creek or Bear Creek or at the face of the dam. They are catching they are using jigs, lindys and worm harnesses.

Walleye fishermen are using smelt and a minnow. A bit too early for cranks the water is just too cool. Northern pike are being caught with dare devils off shore.

The river is slow. High and muddy it is just not fishing like in the past. It is just slow.”

Lake Elmo Billings
According to Bob at FWP a big muskey 38 inches was caught a week ago at Lake Elmo and put back. It has to be 40 inches to keep. They may be down there but no one has caught a keeper. Lots of people fishing and some are boat fishing in the middle of the day so something is biting then. Lots of fish being caught off shore. They are catching rainbows, a few catfish and lots of sunfish. Actually carp are fishing well right now.

Yellowtail has the carp tournament coming up. Magic City Fly fishers sponsor that event.

Fishing on the Yellowstone is high and muddy but if you are persistent with a worm and a rod you can catch some fish.

Cooney Reservoir -Jenny
People caught decent size walleye. I have seen a fair amount of rainbows caught as well. Walleye fishing has picked up by the dam. Walleyes are going deep and they are trolling for them. Deep divers Rapella has brought success. At Red Lodge the water is rising with the rain.

Deadmans/Martinsdale Justin

“Very few fishermen at Martinsdale and Deadman for me to check. Fishing is slow but they are picking up rainbow trout and a few Kokanee. There is water up on the ramp still. The gates are open. The Musselshell went up.

Few people are catching rainbow from shore. It can be pretty good depending on the day,” Justin said.

Don’s Lewistown- Dale

“Spring Creek is blown out! It looks like a coffee laate right now,’ Dale said. Missouri is working for catfish. Ackley Lake is taking on water and you can launch a boat now. Everything is working for bait right now,” Dan says.

Crooked Creek-Grant
Due to low water levels no boat use at Crooked Creek. No boat access. The marina will not be open. It is closed but cabins are still available for other uses just call 1-406-429-2999.

Lewistown Sports-Dave
“Spring Creek is high and muddy and not fishing well. Achley is fishing real good. They are catching all rainbows. Just troll using rapalas in rainbow colors at a depth of 12 to 15 feet”, Dave says.

Minnow Bucket-Allen Camarillo 861-0156

“They are catching catfish on the Yellowstone. The guys are using night crawlers and live minnows, either whole or cut bait. When the sun came out it was better fishing cause the water cleared slightly but as soon as the rain came it muddied up again,” Allen said. I went to Cooney the other day and the water is a lot higher than the last trip. I think as much as 10 to15 feet. Shore fishing is lousy and boat fishing is poor as well I heard,” Allen explained.

“I also heard that they are catching some nice perch from shore at Petrolia,“ Allen said.

People are still seeing some action at Yellowtail.

Silos Canyon Ferry-Sharon

“Fishing has been much better the last couple of days. Several people have gotten their limits. Water temperature is at 70 degrees.

They are reporting catching walleye going east and some bites starting west. Most ae using cranks. Anything and everything is working right now. Broadway Rod and Gun Tournament is moved to Canyon Ferry this year instead of Goose Bay on July 12 th”, Sharon says.

Holter
I spoke to a fisherman on the phone who fished in the rain at Holter and said fishing is still good. He caught walleye 16 to 20 inches, 2 to 3 pounders. Fish “upper campground by Long Gulf to the cabin where the power lines start.” He was off the shore at 150 feet deep using a rapella. Anything that is chartreuse is working.”

West Side Sports Dan 1-406-654-1611

Nelson is picking up fishing. Bottom bouncers, night crawlers and leeches are the things to use. The fish are small ones 14 to 16 inchers are being caught.

Forchette is still muddy and I am not hearing much. You can get a boat in if you are real careful. Just go slow.

Billings-Scheels Nate
“I hear it has slowed down at Nelson. They are catching smaller fish.

I also heard Tongue has slowed down for walleye.

Fort Peck is really rocking hot. Lots of small ones being caught. Use a jig with a smiley face to catch walleye or pike.

There is absolutely no way to get a boat into Crooked Creek at Winnett. No water,” Nate said.

“Yellowtail is spotty but four walleye were caught that were 4 pounds so you can find nice ones. They were jigging for them.

Lake Elmo they are catching quite a few large mouth.

Yellowwater toward Winnett I hear is great. They are catching 2 to 2 ½ pounders.

Lake Elmo is fishing well. Someone caught a 40 inch musky out of there, said Nate.
Rich’s Tackle -Richard
Fishing slow, not much traffic through because of rain.

I heard from guys who fished the Fresno Tournament. These guys were catching 50 fish a day. They said none was over 14 inch. The water was muddy and the water was over the spillway.

Yellowtail/ Big Horn –Dave Egdorf 406-665-3489

“The Big Horn lake is still coming up. The reservoir is quite full. The lake is between hatches right now. You can pick up walleye and small mouth fly fishing right now but any success id intermittent. The locals are going after carp with a fly rod.

Willow Creek Reservoir is producing nice rainbow trout, “Dave says.

“On the Yellowstone they are catching less. It is still really muddy,” Dave explains.

Intake Concessions Glendive
The count for the season is finished. The cut off was 840. Nate from Scheels went fishing for paddlefish and hooked four and caught one. He says it was fun fishing. Catch and release will end Jun 15th for the season.
