As you may have read in a recent article on montanaoutdoor.com (click HERE to read that article), the crappie are biting in Montana! Well, maybe you want to get creative with how you prepare the crappie you catch. This recipe might be the exact meal idea your family has been waiting for you to make. It even has potato chips and cheese in it!

Check this out:

Mississippi Crappie Casserole (by crappieusa.com)

Ingredients:

  • Fresh crappie fillets
  • Italian Salad Dressing
  • Ruffle’s Potato Chips
  • Shredded Cheese (mild or sharp)
  • Onion
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions:

Take your filets of crappie and wash them off then add your salt and pepper for seasoning put them in a 9×13 dish. Pour Italian Salad Dressing over them. Then cut a little onion and place on the fish and crumble some Ruffle’s potato chips and make a layer over the fish. Cover with foil and bake in oven for 30 minutes at 400 degrees. After the 30 minutes is up take the fish out and uncover and put a layer of shredded cheese. I prefer mild cheddar cheese. Put back in the oven and cook until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Um um good!!
